Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 review: thinner and lighter, but a modest upgrade

Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 8, unveiled at its summer Unpacked event, is thinner and lighter than its predecessor but offers few major hardware upgrades, leading to a mixed review. The clamshell phone starts at €1,299 and features an Exynos 2600 chip and a silicon-carbon battery. The device measures 6.1mm when open and weighs 180g, an 8g reduction, while retaining a 6.9-inch internal and 4.1-inch external display with high brightness. Performance is solid but prone to heating, and the camera setup is recycled from the Z Flip 7, with a 50MP main sensor and no telephoto lens. Battery life is comparable to the Z Flip 7 at nearly 21 hours, but charging remains slow at 25W, taking 1 hour 35 minutes. The review concludes the Flip 8 is a polished but incremental update, with its main competitor being the cheaper, still-available Z Flip 7.
