Samsung cuts folding smartphone production as demand declines
Samsung Electronics will cut production of its folding smartphones in 2025 due to declining demand. The company plans to produce only 5 million units of the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, down from 8 million in 2024. In contrast, Samsung will increase production of its conventional Galaxy S25 series by 7%, aiming for 37.4 million units. This is an increase from 35 million units of the Galaxy S24 series produced in 2024. The Galaxy S25 series, set for release on January 22, 2025, will feature improved technology. This shift reflects a broader trend as consumers prefer more affordable and reliable smartphones over foldable devices.
