Samsung begins mass production of PM9E1 SSD, its first PCIe 5.0 model for enterprise use

Samsung has begun mass production of its first PCIe 5.0 SSD, the PM9E1, which is designed primarily for enterprise customers and AI applications. This new model significantly improves speed and efficiency compared to its predecessor, the PM9A1. The PM9E1 offers read speeds of 14.5GB/s and write speeds of 13GB/s, doubling the performance of the PM9A1. It will be available in capacities of 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB, with the larger sizes targeting high-performance needs. The SSD features enhanced security measures and is 50% more power-efficient than the previous model. While pricing and release dates are not yet confirmed, Samsung aims to position the PM9E1 as a vital tool for data-intensive tasks.
