Sallie Ausley, music lover and co-founder of Tallahassee's Red Hills Trials, dies at 86

Sallie Ausley, co-founder of Tallahassee's Red Hills Horse Trials, died Aug. 1 at age 86; a celebration of her life will be held Aug. 8. Ausley and Sylvia Ochs launched the international horse trials in 1998, which ran for 25 years and drew riders qualifying for U.S. Olympic competition. She was also known for her deep love of music. A voice major at Florida State University, she sang with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians and was named Tallahassee Woman of the Year. She leaves three children.
