Salem councillor leads rally to promote smoke-free Bhogi celebration

A local councillor in Salem, Esan Elango, organized an awareness rally to promote a smoke-free Bhogi celebration. The event aimed to discourage the burning of waste, which can harm the environment. Elango toured his ward on a bullock cart, highlighting the dangers of burning materials like plastics and tyres. He carried placards to raise public awareness. A waste collection center has been established near Ayyasamy Park, allowing residents to dispose of waste properly instead of burning it.
