Saint-Nazaire parking fees to rise in 2027 with new rules
Saint-Nazaire city council voted on Friday, September 25, 2026, to introduce new parking fees effective January 2027, marking the first price adjustment since 2016. The increase aims to boost vehicle turnover and promote alternative transport. Monthly subscriptions will rise from €35 to €41 for enclosed lots and €45 for street parking, with discounts for students, downtown workers, and healthcare professionals. License plate registration at pay stations becomes mandatory in November to limit free 30-minute street parking to once daily. Regulated parking will expand to roughly 100 spaces near the new 8 and 11 May lot, with further extensions planned through 2027. The municipality denies banning cars, citing reduced street parking as space for greenery and pedestrians, while the National Rally opposed the increase over purchasing power concerns.
