Ruto pledges full implementation of measures to cut Kenya's business costs
President William Ruto pledged full implementation of measures to lower Kenya's cost of doing business, following agreements with traders to ease pressure on small and medium-sized enterprises. The Kenya Revenue Authority will reduce the benchmark for general consolidated cargo from Sh2.5 million to Sh2 million, while rates for garments, footwear, and fabrics remain unchanged. Kenya Railways will cut cargo transport costs from the Inland Container Depot to Bomaline from Sh58,000 to Sh10,000. Ruto emphasized continued dialogue with traders, describing them as vital to Kenya's economy. The measures follow meetings addressing disagreements over taxation, customs clearance, and imported goods handling.
