the-star.co.ke

President William Ruto has ordered government agencies to enforce minimum wage compliance for private security guards, calling below-minimum pay inhumane and illegal. Ruto said some firms ignored the 15% minimum wage increase announced on Labour Day, while others pay less than Sh10,000 monthly. He also urged employers to remit statutory deductions for Social Health Authority and NSSF. The May increase raised general minimum wages by 12% and agricultural wages by 15%. In major cities, monthly minimum wage rises to Sh18,047.40. Ruto also advanced ratification of two ILO conventions.
