Russia's maximum sick leave payment to hit 9,400 rubles daily by 2029
Russia's maximum daily sick leave payment will reach 9,400 rubles by 2029, a 37% increase from the current level, according to the Social Fund budget draft cited by Izvestia. Only 5-7% of claimants will qualify for the top amount. The limit will rise to 7,900 rubles in 2027 and 8,600 in 2028, up from 6,800 rubles today, all before personal income tax. To receive the 2027 maximum, workers need at least eight years of service and average monthly salaries of 230,000 rubles in 2025 and 248,000 in 2026. The increase stems from a higher cap on insurance contributions tied to projected average wages. Benefits for lower earners will also grow with salaries, which rose 13.5% in 2025 and 12.2% year-on-year in early 2026. Self-employed Russians gained access to paid sick leave in July 2026 through a voluntary insurance experiment.
