Russian physicists speed up plasma property calculations thousands of times

news.rambler.ru (Russian)

Russian physicists developed analytical formulas that calculate heavy ion behavior in helium plasma thousands of times faster, reducing simulations from hours to seconds. Created by HSE University and MIPT researchers, the methods determine ion mobility and reaction rate constants under strong electric fields. One algorithm targets strong fields; others work across all field strengths. Tests showed 2–7% error for the most accurate method and about 10% for the fastest. Applications include physics, medicine, agriculture, and plasma device design.
