Russian journalist Alexei Vishnevetsky dies at 60

Alexei Vishnevetsky, deputy chairman of the Russian Union of Journalists and honored Russian journalist, died on the night of September 4 at age 60. The preliminary cause of death was a heart attack, according to union chairman Vladimir Solovyov. Vishnevetsky worked at the union for about ten years. He began his career at Moskovskaya Pravda, later worked at Rossiyskaya Gazeta, NTV, TNT, and Rossiya 1, and headed the documentary film service at Rossiya 1 from 2012 to 2017. He received the honored journalist title in 2026. His death follows the April 2026 passing of TV host Alexei Pimanov, also from cardiac arrest. Vishnevetsky had recently appeared tired but complained of no health issues and was actively planning new film projects.
