Russian hackers controlled Norwegian dam

Russian hackers are suspected of taking control of a Norwegian dam in April, opening valves and releasing water for four hours. The Norwegian Police Security Service believes the attack was part of Russia's hybrid warfare strategy to demonstrate capabilities, not necessarily cause damage. The dam is located in Bremanger. This incident follows a similar cyberattack on a Texas water facility in January 2024. Norway's intelligence chief identified Russia as the primary security threat.
