Russian Drone Strike Hits SBU Building Near St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, Injuring Seven

A Russian jet drone struck the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) building near St. Sophia Cathedral in central Kyiv on Friday, causing a fire and injuring at least seven people, six of whom were hospitalized. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the drone hit the SBU's central building on Volodymyrska Street, targeting the office of acting SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad, who was not present. The attack also destroyed the Zavertaino bakery near the cathedral, though staff and guests sheltered in the basement. The strike occurred during an air raid alert as Russia continues a ninth day of drone attacks on the capital. A fire was also reported at an industrial site in Brovarskyi district, and on September 3, a drone hit a residential building in Kyiv, injuring 13 people.
