Russia Proposes Raising Teacher's Day Gift Limit to 10,000 Rubles
Russia may raise the limit on teacher gifts for Teacher's Day from 3,000 to 10,000 rubles, as proposed by Vladislav Grib, deputy secretary of the Public Chamber. He stated this to RIA Novosti, citing the high cost of a decent bouquet and chocolates in major cities. Grib emphasized that gifts should be voluntary, not mandatory collections for expensive presents, and called them a sign of attention and respect. The current rule caps teacher gifts at 3,000 rubles, with the proposal aiming to adjust for modern costs. The proposal follows a Komsomolskaya Pravda journalist's recent selection of four gift options for the holiday. The outlet also published guidance on what is permissible to give teachers without constituting a bribe.
