Russia plans national media platform using Dzen

Russia plans to create a national media platform using VK's "Dzen" content service. Amendments to the "On Information" law are expected in the State Duma by May 2026. The proposed platform would require search engines, social media, and classifieds to integrate "Dzen's" news block. Major platforms must implement this immediately, with others receiving a six-month grace period. The government will select media for display and appoint the platform's operator. Revenue will come from advertising within "Dzen," with 50% of ad income shared with integrating platforms and the remainder supporting media. This initiative aims to address declining media traffic and revenue following the departure of foreign services.
