Russia and Ukraine plan cease-fire talks over energy
Ukraine and Russia are preparing to discuss a cease-fire aimed at stopping attacks on energy infrastructure. Both countries are trying to show that the other is not trustworthy ahead of these talks. Recently, a major gas station in Russia, near the Ukrainian border, caught fire. Both nations blame each other for the attack. Videos shared online show flames engulfing parts of the gas station, which used to supply gas to Europe via Ukraine. In another incident, Russian officials reported a secondary explosion at a fuel depot in the Krasnodar region. This depot had been burning for two days after a drone attack from Ukraine. The fire reportedly spread over an area of more than 100,000 square feet. Despite the tensions, Ukraine and Russia have agreed to a limited 30-day cease-fire concerning strikes on energy sites. This cease-fire marks a significant step toward reducing hostilities in the ongoing conflict that has lasted more than three years. The agreement followed discussions between the leaders of the United States, Ukraine, and Russia.
