Rondé-Oustau brickworks in Muret reopens after heritage grant

ladepeche.fr (French) —

The Rondé-Oustau brickworks in Muret, France, will inaugurate its renovated 800-square-meter hall on October 17, 2026, following a €300,000 grant from the Fondation du Patrimoine. The event marks a key milestone in the site's revival. The renovation, funded by the 2022 Stéphane Bern Mission award, covered carpentry, roofing, and walls. Owner Claire Carjuzaa, a fifth-generation family member, plans to transform the historic site into a space for artisan crafts, cultural exchange, and heritage transmission, supported by the city and local associations. The public is invited to the free inauguration from 2:30 PM to 5 PM, featuring historical exhibits and visitor feedback sessions. Future plans include upgrading electrical and sanitary systems, securing more funding, and recruiting artists. Sculptor Gérard Lartigue and poet Juliette Demarbre currently occupy part of the hall.
