Romeo Tan opens up about middle child syndrome and his bond with his brothers

Singaporean actor Romeo Tan, 41, revealed he experienced "middle child syndrome" while growing up, feeling overlooked compared to his older and younger brothers. He shared this while promoting his new Mediacorp series Brighter Days. Tan, who has a brother six years older and another five years younger, said his mother often praised his siblings but never him, making him feel jealous and rebellious. He acted as a "middleman" between his brothers, who are less close to each other. Despite these feelings, Tan maintains a respectful bond with his brothers, noting they never fight with their older sibling. He also admitted being mischievous and struggling academically, but later became an officer during National Service and now makes his parents proud as an actor.
