Rome fines e-scooter firms Lime, Bird and Dott €2.6 million

euronews.com

Italy's antitrust authority fined e-scooter operators Lime, Bird and Dott €2.675 million for blocking free rides promised to Rome public transport ticket holders. After an investigation opened in November 2025, the authority found the firms' inadequate structures caused long waits and cumbersome activation for Metrebus subscribers. It also cited Bird for arbitrary account deactivation. The penalty comes as Italy enforces new e-scooter rules requiring plates and insurance; several European countries have restricted or banned rentals after rising accidents.
