Romania has purchased a nearly new light corvette from Turkey for its Naval Forces. The contract, valued at approximately 223 million euros, was signed on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. The acquired vessel, a Hisar-class patrol ship, entered service with the Turkish Navy in late 2024. The purchase includes personnel training and logistical support, with additional costs expected for integrating Western weapon systems like Naval Strike Missiles. The corvette, TCG Akhisar (P-1220), is 99.5 meters long and equipped with a navalized Bayraktar drone system. It will be further outfitted with Evolved Sea Sparrow missiles in Romania.
