Romania approves 402 new hires at Transgaz, Transelectrica, Hidroelectrica

The government approved filling 402 vacant posts at state energy firms Transgaz, Transelectrica, and Hidroelectrica to ensure secure operation of Romania's national energy system. Hiring had been blocked by emergency ordinance 89/2025 unless approved by cabinet. Most roles are technical—electricians, engineers, maintenance mechanics. The 2026 salary impact is about 29.9 million lei, fully funded from the companies’ own revenues. Transgaz gets 148 posts; Transelectrica 124 phased; Hidroelectrica 130, with 100 vacant. The measure addresses staffing shortages, overtime limits, and maintenance risks at critical energy infrastructure.
