Rochdale Town Hall clock restored ahead of Remembrance Day celebrations
Rochdale Town Hall's clock has been repaired just in time for Remembrance Day on November 10. The historic 57-meter building, which dates back to 1871, recently reopened after a four-year, £20 million restoration funded by Rochdale Council and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The restoration revealed forgotten rooms and features through digital scans. The original clock tower was destroyed in a fire in 1883, and a new tower was completed in 1887. The repairs were carried out by Smith of Derby clockmakers. The town hall now includes new features like the Welcome Gallery and a restaurant called The Martlet Kitchen. The Remembrance Service will include prayers, readings, and a two-minute silence at 11am.
