RNIB launches toolkit to help game developers create accessible experiences for visually impaired players
The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has launched the Design for Every Game initiative to help game developers create accessible games for people with sight loss. This includes a player testing panel of gamers with sight loss. The initiative features a Best Practices in Accessible Gaming 2024 Development Kit. This kit provides tools for developers to integrate accessibility into their games while ensuring technical quality. Additionally, RNIB collaborated with TP&M and HEX to create Spectrum Shift, a browser-based adventure game. This game showcases accessibility features like menu narration, audio cues, and high-contrast visuals.
