Rikkyo University baseball team holds clinic in Rikuzen-Takata, Iwate

Rikkyo University's baseball team held a baseball clinic for about 40 junior high school students in RikuzenTakata, Iwate, during a training camp ahead of the autumn league season. The team has been training there since August 4 for the Tokyo Six Universities league starting in September. Manager Yasuo Kimura experienced the 2011 earthquake while coaching in Ishinomaki. Players led pitching, batting and infield drills. Among instructors was pitcher Ryuki Kanno, a local native and former Takata High School ace who debuted this spring and throws 156 km/h. He aims to turn pro as a first-round draft pick.
