Revenue department evicts families encroaching on government land in Munnar

Revenue officials evicted 20 families from government land in Munnar, Kerala, who had built temporary sheds. The eviction occurred at M.G. Colony after a directive from the Devikulam Subcollector. Officials stated the families encroached hoping a digital land survey would grant them ownership. Seven families with court stay orders were not evicted. Officials suspect an organized gang is involved in land encroachments for tourism purposes.
