Retired Tamil Nadu cop predicted his own murder
Retired police officer Zakhir Hussain Bijli was murdered in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. He was attacked after leaving morning prayers while riding his motorcycle. Assailants pulled him off his bike and fatally assaulted him. Before his death, Bijli recorded a video in which he predicted he would be killed. He had been fighting to reclaim this land from a local woman named Noorunnissa. He filed complaints against her and two officers, claiming they were against him. In his video, he described the legal case as a trap set by these officers. The murder has drawn responses from politicians. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin condemned the killing in the state assembly. The opposition leader, Edappadi K Palaniswami, has called for compensation for Bijli's family.
