Reliance Power secures India's largest solar and battery storage project, shares rise 2%

Reliance Power's shares rose 2% after its subsidiary won a major contract for a 930 MW solar project and a 465 MW/1860 MWh battery storage system from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). This project is the largest solar and battery storage initiative in India and the biggest deployment of grid storage batteries in Asia, excluding China. The contract was awarded following an e-reverse auction on December 9, 2024. Reliance NU Suntech will provide four hours of peak power daily under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with SECI, supplying power to various distribution companies across India.
