Regional banks in Baden-Württemberg offer low interest rates on savings accounts

Many regional banks in southwestern Germany offer very low interest rates on savings accounts. Over a third of these institutions provide minimal to no interest. A significant portion of savings banks and cooperative banks in the region are offering interest rates between 0% and 0.25%. This is considerably lower than the average 1.28% offered by nationwide banks. This disparity is attributed to less competition among local banks and a loyal, less price-sensitive customer base. Fixed deposit rates show smaller differences, though regional banks still offer lower returns.
