Red Sox consider signing left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney to boost rotation

The Boston Red Sox are considering signing left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney, a former first-round draft pick, to strengthen their rotation. Heaney, 33, is the top lefty available after completing a two-year deal with the Texas Rangers. Currently, the Red Sox have only one left-handed starter, Garrett Crochet, while the rest of their rotation consists of right-handers. They recently signed Patrick Sandoval, but he is recovering from surgery and won't pitch until mid-2025. Heaney has overcome past injury issues and pitched effectively for the Rangers. The Red Sox previously pursued him two years ago when he signed a $25 million deal with Texas. They may now seek a similar contract to add depth to their pitching staff.
