Red Cross volunteers pump floodwater in Thessaloniki after heavy rain

Volunteer rescuers from the Hellenic Red Cross in Thessaloniki mobilized early Thursday morning to address problems caused by heavy rainfall, pumping water from underground waste bins and aiding restoration efforts. Working with the city's Civil Protection Department, the volunteers used specialized equipment to drain accumulated water from underground bins and assist with cleanup operations following the intense downpour that hit the city. The Red Cross regional branch in Thessaloniki remains on standby to provide further assistance wherever needed.
