RCMP destroyed pipe bomb-like device in Manitoba dorm

A device resembling a pipe bomb was safely destroyed by the RCMP after being discovered in a school dorm room in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba. The device was found on June 16th at Frontier Collegiate while staff prepared for the return of students evacuated due to wildfires. The RCMP's explosives disposal unit determined the device posed no immediate danger before destroying it. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed. Cranberry Portage, located northwest of Winnipeg, had been under evacuation orders since May 31st, with re-entry beginning June 14th.
