Raspberry Pi launches official PCIe SSDs for enhanced retro gaming on Raspberry Pi 5
Raspberry Pi Ltd has launched official PCIe 3.0 SSDs and kits for the Raspberry Pi 5, allowing users to enhance their retro gaming experience without needing third-party hardware. Previously, users had to rely on third-party SSDs and HATs for connectivity. The new SSDs come in 256GB and 512GB options, priced at $30 and $45, respectively. These drives can be paired with the official M.2 HAT+ for improved performance, addressing earlier limitations of using MicroSD cards for storage. Users can unlock PCIe 3.0 speeds by modifying the Pi's config file, enhancing the device's capabilities. This development makes the Raspberry Pi 5 a more viable option for gaming and other desktop applications.
