Rare HS 0 number plate remains unsold after two years in East Renfrewshire

East Renfrewshire Council has been unable to sell the rare HS 0 number plate for two years. The council initially hoped to attract high-profile buyers, including celebrities with the same initials, but interest has been minimal since it went on sale in January 2023. The plate, previously used by the council's official car, has not been in use since 2022. Experts estimated it could sell for between £150,000 and £250,000, but no buyers have emerged. Despite the lack of interest, the council remains optimistic about selling the plate for a six-figure sum. The HS 0 plate was inherited from the former Eastwood District Council, which used the prefix to indicate its local authority.
