Ranipet TVK MLA's factory shutdown demand sparks assembly row after naming wrong company

In a first for the Tamil Nadu assembly, an MLA's demand to shut a factory led to ministers responding and a debate, drawing sharp ridicule from opposition parties, especially the BJP. Ranipet TVK MLA Tahira mistakenly named JK Tyres instead of AK Tyres, a factory that recycles old tires. The error came to light after netizens found no JK Tyres plant in Ranipet, with one located in Sriperumbudur. The factory she meant is AK Tyres, near Kanchanagiri hill in Ranipet district, reportedly owned by DMK village council head A.K. Murugan. The AK Tyres plant had previously faced protests over pollution and was sealed by officials before resuming operations. TVK members suggest the MLA's verbal slip caused the confusion, which has now sparked significant political controversy.
