Rajasthan government restructures excise department, creates enforcement force

Rajasthan's Excise Department is undergoing a major restructuring with the formation of an Excise Enforcement and Prevention Force. This reorganization aims to strengthen control over illegal liquor, smuggling, and violations of excise laws. The state will be divided into 8 zones, with 53 deputy commissioner offices and 286 junior excise officer offices established. The move, part of a budget announcement, is considered the largest administrative overhaul in years, intended to boost revenue and curb illegal activities.
