Railway officials inspect new Pamban Railway Bridge for safety compliance

A team of railway officials inspected the new Pamban Railway Bridge on December 25, 2024. The inspection was led by Divisional Railway Manager Sharad Srivastava to address issues noted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety during a previous inspection in November. The Commissioner had identified deficiencies, including improper track alignment and issues with rail joints. The Madurai division must rectify these problems and resurvey the 2-km bridge before train services can resume. The compliance work is expected to be completed within 10 days. Train services will only be allowed after the Divisional Railway Manager certifies that the deficiencies have been addressed.
