RailRiders beat IronPigs 9-2, move within 1.5 games of first
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 9-2 on Wednesday night, moving to within two games of first place in the International League. The team scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed. Yanquiel Fernandez drove in four runs with two home runs, his team-leading 23rd and 24th of the season, going 3-for-4. Jasson Dominguez, J.C. Escarra, Marco Luciano, and Oswaldo Cabrera also contributed to the early scoring. Yankees pitcher Clark Schmidt started his second rehab appearance, pitching two innings with three strikeouts and one run allowed. The RailRiders now sit 1.5 games behind the Rochester Red Wings for first place. They begin a series against Rochester next week.
