Queensland crime victims fall 4% in first year under Adult Crime, Adult Time

Queensland recorded 277,411 crime victims in 2025, a drop of over 12,000 from the previous year, marking the first annual data under the state's Adult Crime, Adult Time policy. The figures fall below Premier David Crisafulli's promised benchmark. The Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows a 4 per cent decrease from 2024, with robbery and burglary falling 13 and 12 per cent respectively. Sexual assault victims dropped 2 per cent to just over 9,000, with the victimisation rate declining for the first time since 2019. Attorney-General Deb Frecklington called the results "green shoots" in the government's crime crackdown. The government has faced criticism for changing metrics and previously apologised for releasing incorrect figures, while youth justice minister Laura Gerber cited upcoming mandatory jail terms for bail breaches as further deterrents.
