Queensland activist argues new hate speech law is insane

A 70-year-old activist pleaded insanity against charges for using banned phrases in Queensland, Australia. Jim Dowling was charged with reciting a prohibited expression that could menace, harass, or offend. Queensland recently banned phrases like "from the river to the sea" as hate speech. Dowling was arrested during a protest against Boeing. He argues the law itself is insane, not his mental state. He will return to court on April 29.
