QuantumScape starts production of first solid-state battery cells for automotive testing

electrek.co

QuantumScape has started low-volume production of its first B-sample solid-state battery cells. These cells will be sent to automotive partners for testing in electric vehicles. This marks a significant step in the company's battery development journey. The B-sample cells feature an energy density of over 800 Wh/L and can charge from 10% to 80% in under 15 minutes. QuantumScape claims these are the first anode-free solid-state lithium-metal cells produced for automotive use. This production update follows years of prototype development, including previous A and Alpha-2 samples. The company aims to advance solid-state technology for safer and more efficient electric vehicles.
