Quantum router hits 98% efficiency in China's Wukong tests
Researchers in China achieved up to 98% information transmission efficiency with a quantum router tested on the Origin Wukong superconducting quantum computer, advancing scalable quantum memory development. The teams built three independent routers and a two-layer network for bucket-brigade quantum random access memory, testing them on China's third-generation superconducting computer. Single-router transmission hit 98%, while the two-layer network reached 93%, with average fidelity of 94.8% and 82.4%, respectively. The work addresses routing complexity in expanding QRAM, potentially lowering computing costs and improving quantum chip integration. It marks a shift toward testing complex quantum functions on real hardware, though network performance trailed individual router results.
