Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which will support up to eight years of Android operating system updates. This includes the current OS version, allowing for seven years of upgrades, depending on phone manufacturers. Previously, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 supported only four OS upgrades and four years of security updates. The new chip aims to extend the lifespan of Android devices, although not all manufacturers may choose to utilize this capability. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is built using a 3nm process, enhancing performance and efficiency. It replaces the Kryo CPU with a mobile-optimized Oryon CPU. New devices featuring this chip, like the Asus ROG Phone 9 and Honor Magic 7, are expected soon.
