Quadrantid meteor shower peaks January 2-3 with high visibility in the USA

The Quadrantid meteor shower began on December 27 and will peak on the night of January 2-3, 2024. During its peak, observers in the USA can expect to see between 110 and 120 meteors per hour. The peak activity is expected around 7:53 a.m. EST on January 3. The shower will remain visible until January 16, with traces of meteors continuing after the peak. The Quadrantids are one of the year's most intense meteor showers, originating from the asteroid 2003 EH. They are named after a now-unrecognized constellation and are known for their bright meteors.
