QB camp honors Thrower, develops young Pennsylvania players
The Willie Thrower Award Foundation Quarterback Camp provided young football players a chance to improve their skills and honor the legacy of a local football pioneer. Over 50 quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs participated in the camp held at Valley High School, where a statue commemorates Thrower's achievements. The camp aims to celebrate Thrower, the first Black quarterback in the modern NFL. The camp included instruction from coaches like Chad Salisbury, who was inspired by Thrower's history as a barrier-breaking quarterback and Korean War veteran.
