Punjab minister orders colleges to ensure student safety

Punjab's Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, has mandated that all universities and colleges prioritize student safety, holding institutions personally accountable. Bains has ordered educational institutes to provide food, shelter, and support to students remaining on campus, without forcing anyone to leave. He emphasized that students unable or unwilling to leave due to safety concerns will be accommodated. The minister also directed the establishment of helpdesks and nodal officers for student support, warning of serious consequences for any safety protocol violations. Students can also opt out of exams without penalty.
