Punjab committee seeks clarification on membership drive from Akali Dal leader

The Akal Takht's seven-member committee, led by SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami, is seeking clarification from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar about a membership drive that began on January 20. The committee plans to meet on February 11 to determine if the drive aligns with last year's directives from the Akal Takht. Gurpartap Singh Wadala stated that the committee believes the current drive does not follow these guidelines. Previously, the SAD was hesitant to have the membership drive overseen by the Takht committee due to concerns about potential political repercussions. The party has since asked Dhami to supervise the ongoing membership efforts.
