Pune prepares for historic Army Day parade with woman captain leading the way
Pune will host its first Army Day parade on January 15, where Captain Sandhya Mahla will make history as the first woman to command two prestigious women contingents of the Indian Army. She will lead the women's Agniveer contingent. Captain Sandhya previously led the tri-services women's contingent at last year's Republic Day parade. She has been preparing with her 58-member team for 40 days, practicing daily to ensure a disciplined display. Captain Sandhya, a second-generation army officer, faced multiple rejections before succeeding in her military career. Her second-in-command, Captain Sharanya Rao, expressed confidence in their contingent's performance at the upcoming parade.
