Pune minors killed vendor over cigarette dispute

A 38-year-old vendor was murdered in Chikhali, Pune, after a dispute over a cigarette. Three minors are in custody following the Wednesday night killing. The Chikhali police investigation revealed the victim, Mahesh Chame, was attacked with a billhook after refusing to give the minors a cigarette and matches. The police recovered the weapon and detained the suspects on Thursday. Chame, a roadside vendor, was found near an open plot with multiple facial injuries. The police initially opened a murder investigation before receiving a tip leading to the minors' arrest.
