Pune hospital seeks approval for uterine transplants

A third hospital in Maharashtra has applied for permission to perform uterine transplants, expanding access to the procedure for women with infertility. This follows approvals for two other hospitals in the state. Sahyadri Hospital in Pune seeks to offer uterine transplants, joining DY Patil Medical College and HN Reliance Hospital in providing the procedure to women unable to conceive due to uterine issues. The transplants use donor uteri. Uterine transplants offer hope for biological motherhood to women with absolute uterine factor infertility. India's first successful transplant occurred in 2017, and Maharashtra aims to become a leading state in this field.
