Puducherry establishes first electric bus charging station

Puducherry is establishing its first electric bus charging station, which will feature six charging points. Each point can charge two buses at once, allowing drivers a 45-minute break for charging. Evey Trans Private Limited is leading the project, with over 40% of the work completed. The Puducherry government aims for a full transition to electric buses by year-end, with 25 buses set to operate on 15 routes. The charging station will support operations for 12 years, ensuring buses can travel 200 km daily. The Puducherry Electricity Department has received funding for necessary infrastructure, while the private operator will manage maintenance and costs.
